Lanterns debuted on HBO Max with 9.3 million viewers worldwide in its first three days. The result made the series the biggest debut for a DC Studios series on the platform.

The performance also placed Lanterns among the five biggest series premieres in HBO Max history. Among the company's recent releases, the show outperformed the debuts of The Penguin, IT: Welcome to Derry and True Detective: Night Country.

The series follows John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, and veteran Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler. The two Green Lanterns work together to investigate a murder in the United States.

The case, however, leads the pair into a mystery with far greater consequences. The story combines the murder investigation with the heroes' work, placing the partnership between Stewart and Jordan at the heart of the series.

Lanterns premiered on August 16 and is available on HBO and HBO Max. The release marks the show's arrival on the platform with a stronger opening performance than other recent series from the company, including high-profile titles such as The Penguin, IT: Welcome to Derry and True Detective: Night Country.

With the numbers recorded in its first three days, the series starring Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler has delivered the best debut among DC Studios series on HBO Max and ranks among the platform's five biggest premieres.
