Jennifer Lawrence has no plans to play Mystique again in the X-Men franchise. In an interview with Allure, the actress recalled the transformation process for the blue-skinned character and ruled out going through the prosthetics, body paint and heavy makeup again.Asked whether she would undergo the process again, Lawrence was direct: “Never say never, but absolutely fuck no! You know how cold airbrushing is? And I’m ticklish. I learned how little sleep I can function on and what can happen to the human mind when you really reach your limit. And the patience!”- Jennifer LawrenceThe actress played Mystique in four films released between 2011 and 2019. Lawrence said the action scenes were her favorite part of the job, especially the physical training and the chance to learn new ways of moving. She also highlighted her relationship with Renee Moneymaker, her stunt double on X-Men and The Hunger Games, who became one of her best friends. The body paint, however, was the least enjoyable part of the experience. For X-Men: First Class (2011), Lawrence’s first film as Mystique, she spent about eight hours in the makeup chair for the paint and adhesive application. She compared the sensation to two cold, pressurized airbrushes moving over her body and said the process tickled.Preparing to land the role also meant changing her look. During auditions, Lawrence changed her hair color several times in a single day, going through shades of red, brown, black and blonde. She said the process permanently damaged her hair. While Lawrence has ruled out a return, the new X-Men production will introduce the mutant team into the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cast includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, Kit Connor as Cyclops and Sadie Sink as Jean Grey. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.With information from CinePOP.
