A new Street Fighter TV spot shows M. Bison, played by David Dastmalchian, using Psycho Crusher against Ryu, played by Andrew Koji. In the scene, the villain hurtles through the air surrounded by the move’s signature purple energy before striking the fighter.The preview highlights the special moves that helped turn Street Fighter characters into video game icons. The film hits theaters on October 16, 2026, and is set in 1993.Dastmalchian takes on a role made famous by Raúl Juliá in the 1994 adaptation. Although that film was widely criticized, Juliá’s over-the-top yet committed performance as Bison became one of its most memorable elements.The new version will take the character in a different direction. In an interview, Dastmalchian said he told director Kitao Sakurai that he did not have the physique normally associated with the villain.“I’m not that big, imposing titan you imagine when you think of M. Bison.”- David DastmalchianAccording to the actor, Sakurai replied, “That’s not the story I want to tell.” Dastmalchian also revealed that the film plans to explore why so many people would follow Bison and help him turn Shadaloo into the organization fans know.The story follows Ryu and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo, who are estranged when Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them to compete in the World Warrior Tournament. Behind the competition, a conspiracy will pit the two fighters against each other.The cast also includes Jason Momoa as Blanka, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Roman Reigns as Akuma, 50 Cent as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Mel Jarnson as Cammy and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda. Kitao Sakurai directs from a screenplay by Dalan Musson, and Street Fighter hits theaters on October 16, 2026.
