Disney has surpassed US$ 4 billion at the global box office in 2026, becoming the second studio to reach the milestone this year, behind only Universal Pictures.

The main driver of that performance is Toy Story 5. The animated film has already grossed more than US$ 1.09 billion worldwide, cementing its place as Pixar's third-highest-grossing animated film of all time. It trails Inside Out 2, with US$ 1.6 billion, and Incredibles 2, which brought in US$ 1.2 billion.

Toy Story 5 has also joined the eight highest-grossing Hollywood animated films in cinema history. In the annual rankings, it sits third among 2026's top-grossing films, behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with US$ 1.6 billion, and The Odyssey, with US$ 1.1 billion.

The sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 also made a significant contribution to the studio's total. The film grossed US$ 692 million at the worldwide box office.

Disney's five biggest releases of the year also include the original animated film Hoppers, with US$ 390 million; Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, which reached US$ 345 million; and the live-action Moana, with US$ 281.5 million.

The response to Toy Story 5 has matched its commercial success. The film holds a 93% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes and received an A from audiences on CinemaScore. That rating is in line with most previous installments in the franchise, surpassed only by the A+ earned by the second film.
