This card, Sleep Paralysis, would be beneficial in a control deck looking to stall the opponent's creatures and disrupt their game plan. It can be particularly effective against powerful creatures that the opponent relies on for victory. However, there are more versatile options like Pacifism or Detention Sphere that offer similar effects with additional utility, so Sleep Paralysis may not see as much play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.

If the target creature is an illegal target by the time Sleep Paralysis tries to resolve, the spell doesn’t resolve. It won’t enter the battlefield, so its ability won’t trigger.
