About Misfortune's Gain

Misfortune's Gain, Sorcery, designed by Jiaming first released in May, 1999 in the set Portal Three Kingdoms and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Misfortune's Gain can be particularly effective in a control or midrange deck that aims to manage the board while gaining incremental advantages. The ability to destroy a creature while granting the opponent life can be strategically beneficial if your deck can outlast them or if the life gain is not a significant concern. However, there are arguably better options like Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares, which provide creature removal without giving the opponent any life. Ultimately, while Misfortune's Gain has its niche, it may not be the optimal choice for competitive play, especially in formats where more efficient removal spells are available.
