A Merfolk Mesmerist card would be beneficial in a mill deck strategy in Magic: the Gathering, where the goal is to force the opponent to draw cards from their library until they run out and lose the game. While Merfolk Mesmerist can contribute to this strategy by milling two cards each time it is activated, there are more efficient mill cards available such as Hedron Crab or Glimpse the Unthinkable. Therefore, Merfolk Mesmerist may not be the best choice for a competitive mill deck and might not see much play in high-level gameplay.
