About Lightning Storm

Lightning Storm, Instant, designed by Luca Zontini first released in Jul, 2006 in the set Coldsnap and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

A deck that focuses on aggressive red strategies and has a high density of land cards would benefit from using Lightning Storm, as it offers a versatile and potentially powerful removal option that can scale with the number of charge counters. However, in competitive Magic: the Gathering environments, Lightning Storm may not be the most efficient choice compared to other removal spells like Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning, which offer immediate impact without the need for setup. While Lightning Storm has potential, it may struggle to see play in highly optimized decks due to its slower and more conditional nature.

Rules

07/15/06

After an instance of Lightning Storm’s activated ability resolves, the active player (not Lightning Storm’s controller) receives priority.

07/15/06

Lightning Storm has an activated ability that can be activated only while the spell is on the stack. Any player may activate that ability. When the ability is activated, it goes on the stack on top of Lightning Storm. When the ability resolves, the Lightning Storm spell is affected.

07/15/06

When Lightning Storm leaves the stack, its charge counters go away.
