This card could be beneficial in a control deck that focuses on taking control of key creatures on the battlefield, as well as in decks that can generate a consistent amount of mana to pay for its cumulative upkeep. However, there are better options available such as Control Magic or Treachery, which offer similar effects without the drawback of losing life upon being destroyed. Overall, Krovikan Whispers may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its high mana cost and potential life loss.
