Crystalline Sliver is particularly beneficial in a Sliver tribal deck, as it provides a layer of protection for all Slivers on the battlefield, making them harder to remove. This synergy is especially useful in formats where removal spells are prevalent. While there are other cards that offer similar protective effects, such as Teferi's Protection, which can protect all your permanents, it is more situational and costs more mana. However, Crystalline Sliver's ability to grant shroud to all Slivers makes it a solid choice for Sliver decks, and it should see play in those strategies, especially in casual or commander formats where Sliver synergies shine.

If the creature type of a Sliver changes so it’s no longer a Sliver, it will no longer be affected by its own ability. Its ability will continue to affect other Sliver creatures.
