About Archmage Ascension

Archmage Ascension, Enchantment, designed by Christopher Moeller first released in May, 2020 in the set Zendikar.

A deck that focuses on drawing multiple cards each turn, such as a control or combo deck, would benefit most from using Archmage Ascension. While this card can provide powerful card advantage once it has enough quest counters, there are better alternatives like Jace, the Mind Sculptor or Search for Azcanta that offer more immediate and versatile benefits, making Archmage Ascension less likely to see play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.

Rules

10/01/09

Archmage Ascension’s first ability has an “intervening ‘if’ clause.” It won’t trigger at all unless you’ve already drawn two or more cards by the time the end step begins.

10/01/09

If a spell or ability causes you to put cards in your hand without specifically using the word “draw,” Archmage Ascension’s abilities ignore it.
