How long does it take to binge watch a series?
Multiply the number of episodes by how long each one runs, then divide by how much you actually watch per day. A five season show with ten episodes of 45 minutes is 37 hours and 30 minutes, which is about nineteen days at two hours a night.
The number that surprises people is not the total, it is the calendar. Thirty seven hours sounds like a weekend, and it is only a weekend if you watch eighteen hours a day.
Does skipping the intro really change anything?
Over one episode, no. Over a long series, yes: thirty seconds across two hundred episodes is one hundred minutes, almost two hours, and it can move the finishing date by a whole day.
That is why the intro is a field here instead of being ignored. Put in the length of the opening you skip and the total drops accordingly.
Why is the number of days rounded up?
Because a leftover of ten minutes is still another day of watching. Rounding to the nearest whole number would report a day less in almost half the cases, and the finishing date would be wrong in your favour, which is the wrong direction for a plan.
The finishing date counts today as the first day, so a series you can finish in one day finishes today, not tomorrow.
How many hours a day is reasonable?
The table shows several paces side by side instead of recommending one, because that is a decision about your week and not about the show. Half an hour a day is an episode before bed; three hours is an evening; five is a weekend afternoon.
Pick the row that looks like your actual life rather than the one that gets you to the finale fastest.
