My Name

My Name is an eight-episode South Korean crime thriller released by Netflix on 15 October 2021. Directed by Kim Jin-min and written by Kim Ba-da, the series stars Han So-hee as Yoon Ji-woo, a young woman whose life is redirected when her father, Yoon Dong-hoon, is shot dead on her birthday. The drama begins with Ji-woo hearing the attack through a door and seeing the killer flee, an event that fuels her single-minded search for the man responsible.

Rather than treating the police as immediate allies, Ji-woo turns to Choi Mu-jin, played by Park Hee-soon, the powerful head of the Dongcheon crime organization and her father's former associate. Mu-jin takes her in, trains her brutally, and gives her the identity Oh Hye-jin. Under that name, she enters the police force as part of a plan to find the murderer from inside the narcotics unit. Her assignment places her under Detective Jeon Pil-do, played by Ahn Bo-hyun, an abrasive but capable officer pursuing Dongcheon.

Ji-woo's undercover position makes the show a revenge story and a police-versus-gangster drama at once. She must conceal her loyalty to Mu-jin while working beside Pil-do, whose investigation repeatedly threatens to expose her. The central mystery is not simply who pulled the trigger: it concerns Dong-hoon's past, his relationship with Mu-jin, and the circumstances behind his death. As Ji-woo gets closer to evidence, the identities and motives she has trusted become increasingly unstable.

The cast also includes Kim Sang-ho as Cha Gi-ho, the narcotics chief who has long pursued Mu-jin and becomes crucial to Ji-woo's official police life. Lee Hak-joo plays Jung Tae-ju, Mu-jin's trusted lieutenant, while Jang Yull appears as Do Gang-jae, a Dongcheon member expelled after clashing with Ji-woo. Gang-jae's return adds a personal threat to both her criminal cover and her investigation. The series was released internationally under the title My Name; its Korean title, Mai Neim, is also rendered as My Name in English-language promotion.

Produced by Studio Santa Claus Entertainment, My Name uses Ji-woo's physical transformation as a concrete part of its narrative: Han So-hee trained for the action role, and the character's fight scenes mark her progress from a grieving daughter to an operative able to survive Dongcheon's violence. The drama does not stretch its premise across multiple seasons; its eight episodes carry Ji-woo from Mu-jin's training through her police infiltration to the resolution of the murder case and the final confrontation.
