Ingrid Guimarães is a Brazilian actress, comedian, and presenter whose career has moved between theatre, television, and film. Born in Goiânia, Goiás, she studied performing arts at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, known as UNIRIO, after moving to Rio de Janeiro. Her work is especially associated with comedy, but her public profile has also been shaped by television hosting and by roles that place women’s everyday concerns at the center of popular entertainment.
She became widely known on Brazilian television through comedy programs, including the sketch show *Zorra Total*. One of her best-known characters there was Leandra Borges, a glamorous, self-assured woman whose catchphrase, “C’est fini,” became familiar to audiences. The character drew humor from the contrast between Leandra’s grand manner and the ordinary situations around her. Guimarães also appeared in *Sob Nova Direção*, the Globo sitcom in which Heloísa Périssé and herself played friends who run a bar after inheriting it. The series gave her a continuing role rather than a succession of sketches and established her as a television comedy performer.
Her film work includes *De Pernas pro Ar* (2010), a comedy directed by Roberto Santucci. Guimarães plays Alice, a work-focused executive whose marriage and family life deteriorate as she pursues professional success. After losing her job and confronting changes at home, Alice becomes involved in the sex-toy business, turning an initially private upheaval into an unlikely entrepreneurial venture. The film’s commercial success led to two sequels, *De Pernas pro Ar 2* (2012) and *De Pernas pro Ar 3* (2019), with Guimarães returning as Alice. The trilogy made the character one of her signature screen roles and connected her comic performance to stories about work, ambition, sexuality, and family expectations.
Guimarães has also worked as a presenter. She hosted *Além da Conta*, a GNT program about consumption and personal finances, and later fronted *Viver do Riso*, which examined Brazilian comedy and its practitioners. These projects drew on different parts of her career: her familiarity with entertainment and her interest in how humor relates to daily life.
Across these roles, Guimarães has built a career in Brazilian popular culture without being confined to a single format. Her television characters rely on timing and recognizable social types; her film performances have carried a central character across a three-film series; and her presenting work has taken her beyond scripted comedy. The range of those projects, and the continuing success of Alice in *De Pernas pro Ar*, accounts for her particular place in Brazilian entertainment.
