Een kaartspel dat zich richt op landingstriggers en profiteert van +1/+1 counters of levenswinst zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Retreat to Kazandu. Decks die gebruik maken van wezens met landvalvaardigheden of die een strategie hebben die gericht is op het verkrijgen van leven, kunnen deze kaart nuttig vinden. Er kunnen echter betere opties zijn, afhankelijk van het specifieke deck-archetype, zoals Nissa, Who Shakes the World voor ramp-strategieën of Feed the Clan voor efficiëntere levenswinst. Terugtrekken in Kazandu zou in bepaalde decks met een landfall-thema kunnen worden gespeeld, maar de effectiviteit ervan zou afhangen van de algemene strategie en synergie binnen het deck.

A landfall ability triggers whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control for any reason. It triggers whenever you play a land, as well as whenever a spell or ability puts a land onto the battlefield under your control.

If the ability has an additional or replacement effect that depends on the land having a certain basic land type, the ability will check that land’s type as the ability resolves. If, at that time, the land that entered the battlefield is no longer on the battlefield, use its types when it left the battlefield to determine what happens.
