Een kaartspel dat zich richt op het beschermen van belangrijke wezens of het verstoren van gevechtsstrategieën zou baat hebben bij het opnemen van Maze of Ith. Hoewel het een handig hulpmiddel kan zijn om het bord te besturen en waardevolle aanvallers te beschermen, zijn er potentieel betere opties beschikbaar, afhankelijk van de specifieke strategie van het kaartspel. Kaarten zoals Teferi's Bescherming of Moeder van Runen kunnen in bepaalde situaties meer veelzijdige bescherming of bruikbaarheid bieden. Of Maze of Ith gespeeld moet worden, hangt uiteindelijk af van het algemene spelplan en de synergie binnen het kaartspel.
