Song Kang is a South Korean actor born on April 23, 1994, in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. He made his acting debut in the 2017 television series The Liar and His Lover. He gained broader attention after joining Netflix's Love Alarm (2019), adapted from Chon Kye-young's webtoon. In its premise, a mobile application alerts users when someone nearby has romantic feelings for them. His television debut was The Liar and His Lover, a Korean adaptation featuring a story about young musicians and the music industry. In 2020, Kang took the central role of Cha Hyun-su in Sweet Home, Netflix's adaptation of Kim Carnby's and Hwang Young-chan's webtoon. Hyun-su is a reclusive teenager who moves into Green Home apartment complex after the deaths of his family, just as people begin transforming into monsters shaped by their desires. Kang returned as Hyun-su for Sweet Home seasons two and three, released in 2023. The series combines survival horror with an ensemble story centered on residents attempting to protect one another inside the barricaded building. It became one of his most internationally visible projects and expanded his global audience. His work beyond horror includes tvN's 2021 drama Navillera, where he played Lee Chae-rok, a young ballet dancer whose ambitions are unsettled by personal and financial pressures. The drama pairs Chae-rok with Shim Deok-chul, a 70-year-old retiree played by Park In-hwan who decides to learn ballet. Kang trained in ballet for the role, and the series adapted the webtoon of the same title by Hun and Ji-min. In Nevertheless, a 2021 JTBC romance drama based on a webtoon, he portrayed Park Jae-eon, an art student who develops a complicated relationship with Yoo Na-bi, played by Han So-hee. Its narrative examines ambivalence. Kang then starred opposite Park Min-young in JTBC's 2022 workplace romance Forecasting Love and Weather, playing Lee Si-woo, a free-spirited special reporter at the Korea Meteorological Administration. The drama uses weather forecasting as the setting for relationships among employees. In 2023, he played the demon Jeong Gu-won opposite Kim Yoo-jung in SBS's My Demon. Gu-won loses his supernatural powers after an encounter with heiress Do Do-hee, and he enters a contract marriage with her. On April 2, 2024, his agency Namoo Actors announced that he had enlisted for mandatory military service. Before enlistment, he had completed filming for several projects.
