Urias is the artistic name of Urias Martins, a Brazilian singer and songwriter from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. She first attracted attention through videos posted online, including cover performances, before gaining wider national visibility as a contestant on the Brazilian edition of The X Factor in 2016. Although her participation in the program was brief, it introduced her to a larger audience and preceded the development of a career centered on pop, R&B, electronic music, fashion, and highly designed visual concepts.

In 2018, Urias released “Diaba,” a song that became an important early statement of her identity as an artist. The track’s title, meaning “she-devil,” matched the confrontational and sensual image that would recur throughout her work. In 2019, she issued her self-titled EP, Urias. The project included songs such as “Diaba,” “Vênus em Escorpião,” and “Não Quero Mais,” and established a sound that combined Brazilian pop with darker electronic textures.

Her first full-length album, FÚRIA, arrived in 2022. The record was released in three parts before being presented as a complete album, an approach that allowed its visual and musical world to unfold gradually. FÚRIA brought together producers and collaborators associated with contemporary Brazilian pop and club music, including Rodrigo Gorky and Maffalda. Songs from the project include “Racha,” “Peligrosa,” “Foi Mal,” and “Cuntelectual.” The album’s title emphasized anger, force, and transformation, while its presentation drew on fashion imagery, performance, and futuristic aesthetics.

Urias followed FÚRIA with HER MIND in 2023. The album continued her exploration of electronic production and R&B references while framing its material around intimacy, desire, thought, and self-possession. Its title was presented in English, unlike the Portuguese title of FÚRIA, reinforcing the contrast between the two projects. Across her releases, Urias has worked in Portuguese while also incorporating English phrases and international pop, ballroom, and club-music influences.

As a trans woman working in Brazilian mainstream pop, Urias has become a visible figure in discussions of trans representation in music and fashion. Her public image is closely tied to elaborate styling, editorial photography, and music videos that treat clothing and movement as part of the songs’ storytelling. Rather than separating her visual work from her recordings, Urias has built albums and singles as interconnected audiovisual statements.
