David Guetta is a French DJ, producer, and songwriter whose crossover records helped move electronic dance music into mainstream pop.

Born Pierre David Guetta in Paris on November 7, 1967, he began DJing in Parisian clubs as a teenager and built his reputation through residencies, especially at Le Boy and Les Bains Douches. In 2001, he released “Just a Little More Love,” his debut studio album, which included the title single and “Love Don’t Let Me Go.” The album established his preference for combining house production with prominent vocal hooks, a formula that became central to his later work.

Guetta’s international breakthrough accelerated with “When Love Takes Over,” a 2009 collaboration with Kelly Rowland that interpolated the piano melody from Coldplay’s “Clocks.” It topped charts in several countries and won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, in 2010. That same period brought “Sexy Bitch,” featuring Akon, and “Memories,” featuring Kid Cudi, both major commercial successes.

His 2009 album One Love also contained “One Love,” featuring Estelle, and “Getting Over You,” recorded with Chris Willis, Fergie, and will.i.am. Guetta reached an even larger audience through Nothing but the Beat, released in 2011. The double-format project paired electronic tracks with pop collaborations, including “Where Them Girls At” with Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, “Little Bad Girl” with Taio Cruz and Ludacris, and “Titanium” with Sia. “Titanium,” built around Sia’s powerful vocal and Guetta’s expansive production, became one of his signature recordings and a durable international hit.

He co-wrote and produced “I Gotta Feeling” for the Black Eyed Peas, a 2009 dance-pop single that spent fourteen weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2013, he issued Listen, featuring “Lovers on the Sun,” “Dangerous” with Sam Martin, and “Hey Mama” with Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha, and Afrojack. The album reflected his increasingly polished festival sound, while “Hey Mama” drew on a recognizable vocal hook and became another global chart success.

Guetta continued releasing singles rather than following a fixed album schedule, including “2U” with Justin Bieber in 2017 and “Don’t Leave Me Alone” with Anne-Marie in 2018. In 2020, he staged United at Home livestreams from Miami and New York, raising millions for charities during the COVID-19 pandemic. He later joined forces with Becky Hill and Ella Henderson on “Crazy What Love Can Do,” and with Bebe Rexha on “I’m Good (Blue),” a 2022 hit built around Eiffel 65’s “Blue (Da Ba Dee).”
