ATEEZ is an eight-member South Korean boy group formed by KQ Entertainment. The group consists of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. It debuted on October 24, 2018, with the EP Treasure EP.1: All to Zero and the music videos for “Pirate King” and “Treasure.” Before debut, the members appeared in the YouTube series KQ Fellaz American Training, which documented their training and performances in Los Angeles. Hongjoong is the group’s leader, and its official fandom name, ATINY, combines ATEEZ with “destiny.” The name ATEEZ is commonly explained as “A Teenager Z,” representing everything from A to Z for teenagers. The group’s early releases formed the Treasure series, including Treasure EP.2: Zero to One, Treasure EP.3: One to All, Treasure EP.Fin: All to Action, and Treasure Epilogue: Action to Answer. “Wave,” the title track from Treasure EP.3: One to All, became a significant early song for the group, while “Wonderland,” from Treasure EP.Fin: All to Action, developed into one of its recognizable performance-centered tracks. ATEEZ is known for theatrical staging and sharply synchronized choreography, often working with performance director B.B Trippin. In 2020, ATEEZ began the Fever series with Zero: Fever Part.1. The song “Inception,” selected through a fan vote against “THANXX,” was released as a title track from that EP. The group later released Zero: Fever Part.2, Zero: Fever Part.3, and Zero: Fever Epilogue. In 2021, ATEEZ competed on Mnet’s Kingdom: Legendary War, finishing in third place. Its program performances included reinterpretations of songs by other competing acts as well as its own elaborate stages. ATEEZ’s The World series marked a major commercial step. The World EP.1: Movement, released in 2022, included “Guerrilla,” whose music video and promotions emphasized the group’s dystopian visual storyline. The World EP.2: Outlaw followed in 2023 with “Bouncy (K-Hot Chilli Peppers).” Later that year, The World EP.Fin: Will became ATEEZ’s first number-one album on the US Billboard 200 chart. In 2024, ATEEZ performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, becoming the first K-pop boy group to appear at the festival.
