Steps

“Steps” is an upcoming fantasy adventure centered on Lilith, a misunderstood girl who occupies an unexpected place in a familiar Cinderella story. Rather than presenting the stepsister as simply wicked, the film asks viewers to reconsider the label of “evil” and follows Lilith when events at the Royal Ball place her at the center of a crisis.

The trouble begins when Lilith is blamed for hijacking the Royal Ball with a stolen magic wand. The accusation has serious consequences, but the wand’s magic also produces a far more personal disaster: Lilith accidentally turns her sister, Margot, into a frog. With Margot transformed and the kingdom endangered, Lilith must face the damage connected to the ball and find a way to set things right.

The kingdom does not remain without a ruler or direction during the upheaval. Instead, it is left in the hands of a prince-obsessed mean girl, creating another threat to the story’s already fractured fairy-tale world. Lilith’s task is therefore larger than clearing her name. She must help protect the kingdom while dealing with a magical mistake involving her sister and the consequences of the Royal Ball’s disruption.

To do that, Lilith teams up with Cinderella, bringing the story’s traditionally opposed figures together. Their partnership is one of the film’s central reversals: Cinderella is not merely the heroine whose story the stepsister enters, but an ally in an effort to repair the kingdom and the damaged fairy tale. The pair are also joined by a surprisingly dreamy troll, whose role adds an unexpected companion to their quest.

Together, Lilith, Cinderella, and the troll seek to save the kingdom and repair the fractured fairy tale. Lilith’s journey is also a bid for recognition. The film’s premise argues that a character branded a villain may be misunderstood rather than irredeemably bad, and that she should have an opportunity to change the course of her story.

At the heart of “Steps” is the question of who gets to pursue a happy ending. Lilith must confront the consequences of being blamed for the Royal Ball’s hijacking, somehow undo Margot’s transformation, and challenge the mean girl’s control of the kingdom. The adventure reframes the Cinderella mythology around a sidelined sister and gives her a chance to prove that even so-called villains deserve a shot at happily-ever-after.
