Roh Jeong-eui

Roh Jeong-eui is a South Korean actress born on July 31, 2001. She began acting as a child, making her film debut in 2011’s I Am a Dad. Her early screen work established a filmography that includes the 2015 thriller The Phone and Park Hoon-jung’s 2018 action-mystery film The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion. In the latter, she appeared in the story of Ja-yoon, a seemingly ordinary student drawn back into a secret experimentation program. Roh also accumulated television credits during her teens, including The Great Show and Kill It, before taking on the role that brought her wider recognition. In JTBC’s 2020 drama 18 Again, Roh played Hong Si-a, the teenage daughter of the central married couple, Da-jung and Dae-young. The series adapts the premise of the American film 17 Again: a middle-aged father regains his 18-year-old body while retaining his adult mind. Roh’s Si-a and her twin brother Si-woo must navigate school life while their family faces separation and their father’s extraordinary transformation. Her performance placed her alongside Kim Ha-neul, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Lee Do-hyun, who plays the rejuvenated Dae-young. The drama aired on JTBC with its family story using comedy, romance, and school scenes as key settings. Roh then played the top idol known as NJ in SBS’s Our Beloved Summer, broadcast from late 2021 into early 2022. The romantic comedy reunites documentary subjects Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-su, played by Choi Woo-shik and Kim Da-mi, after their high-school documentary becomes popular again. NJ develops feelings for Ung, giving Roh a role that is not simply an observer of the former couple’s relationship. The drama also follows the lingering consequences of its characters’ youth, work, and breakup. Her portrayal of NJ became one of the works most associated with her transition into leading young-adult roles in Korea. In 2024, Roh starred as Jung Jae-i in Hierarchy, a Netflix Korean series set at the elite Jooshin High School. The show centers on a rigid social order shaped by the wealth and influence of students’ families, and on the arrival of transfer student Kang Ha. Jung Jae-i is presented as the school’s most prominent student and as an heir from a powerful business family. Roh’s other public-facing television work included serving as an MC on SBS’s music program Inkigayo. She regularly hosted Inkigayo in 2022 with Tomorrow X Together’s Yeonjun and actor Seo Bum-june, combining acting with music broadcasting.
