
Nicholas Galitzine is an English actor born in London on 29 September 1994. He made his feature-film debut in 2014’s The Beat Beneath My Feet, playing Tom, a teenager whose musical ambitions lead him to a reclusive American guitarist. The drama co-starred Luke Perry, and Galitzine recorded songs for its soundtrack. His early screen work also included the 2016 dance film High Strung, in which he played violinist Johnnie Blackwell, and the Irish school comedy-drama Handsome Devil. In Handsome Devil, he portrayed Conor Masters, a rugby player whose friendship with music-loving roommate Ned Roche challenges the school’s masculine social expectations.
In 2017, Galitzine appeared in The Watcher in the Woods, a television adaptation of Florence Engel Randall’s novel, as Mark Fleming. He later played Elliott Lefevre in Netflix’s supernatural drama Chambers, which premiered in 2019. His profile widened considerably through Amazon Prime Video’s Cinderella in 2021. In 2022, he starred as Luke Morrow in Netflix’s Purple Hearts, opposite Sofia Carson as Cassie Salazar. The film follows a financially struggling singer-songwriter and a Marine who enter a marriage of convenience, then confront the consequences after Luke is deployed and wounded. Galitzine returned to contemporary romantic comedy in 2023’s Red, White & Royal Blue, adapted from Casey McQuiston’s novel. As Britain’s Prince Henry, he played the initially frosty counterpart and eventual lover of Taylor Zakhar Perez’s Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the U.S. president. He also played Jeff in Emma Seligman’s satirical teen comedy Bottoms, released in 2023.
Galitzine took on major 2024 roles. In the Starz drama Mary & George, he portrayed George Villiers, a favorite of King James I. The series dramatizes Mary Villiers’s campaign to place her son in Jacobean court; Julianne Moore played Mary. In Amazon MGM Studios’ The Idea of You, adapted from Robinne Lee’s novel, he played Hayes Campbell, the singer of the fictional boy band August Moon. His character begins a relationship with Solène, a divorced mother played by Anne Hathaway, after meeting her at Coachella. Together these projects show his range across musical, historical and contemporary screen stories on film.
