Naomi Scott is an English actor and singer whose screen career has moved between television, studio musicals, science-fiction, and contemporary horror. She was born in Hounslow, London, on 6 May 1993. Her father, Christopher Scott, is British, and her mother, Usha Scott, has Gujarati Indian heritage. Scott grew up in Woodford Green, in northeast London, and has described music as an early part of her life; she sang at church and worked with the Bridge Church youth band. Her first regular television role was Megan in the Disney Channel UK series Life Bites, which ran from 2009 to 2010. In 2011, she played Maddy Shannon in Fox's science-fiction drama Terra Nova. The series follows colonists from a damaged future Earth who travel to a prehistoric timeline, and Maddy is the teenage daughter of the Shannon family. That same period brought Scott to the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth, where she played Mohini "Mo" Banjaree, keyboardist in a student band formed at detention. She contributed vocals to the film's soundtrack as well. Scott reached a wider cinema audience as Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in 2017's Power Rangers. The film reimagines the franchise's teenagers recruited to defend Earth after discovering an alien power. Kimberly begins as a former cheerleader confronting the consequences of leaking a private photograph. In 2019, Scott played Princess Jasmine opposite Mena Massoud's Aladdin in Disney's live-action Aladdin. The adaptation retains the fictional city of Agrabah and Jasmine's resistance to a politically arranged marriage, while giving her the new song "Speechless." Its worldwide box-office total exceeded one billion dollars. Later that year, she appeared as Elena Houghlin in Elizabeth Banks's Charlie's Angels, a programmer who seeks the agency's protection after creating a potentially dangerous energy technology. Scott led Parker Finn's 2024 film Smile 2 as pop star Skye Riley. The sequel follows Skye as she experiences supernatural visions connected to the curse introduced in Smile. Her performance required concert sequences as well as scenes charting Skye's public collapse under scrutiny and trauma. Beyond acting, Scott has released music under her own name and collaborated with producer and songwriter Nick Brewer. She married English footballer Jordan Spence in June 2014. Their wedding followed years of a relationship that began when they were teenagers. Scott's career consequently links British children's television, Disney productions, major franchise films, and a horror sequel centered on a musician rather than a conventional final girl stereotype.
