Kim So-hyun

Kim So-hyun (born June 4, 1999) is a South Korean actress whose career began as a child performer. She was born in Australia and moved with her family to South Korea in 2003. Her early screen work included television appearances, but she drew broad attention in 2012’s historical drama The Moon Embracing the Sun, where she played the young Yoon Bo-kyung, a character later portrayed by Kim Min-seo. That same year, she portrayed young Lee Soo-yeon in I Miss You, the younger version of a character played as an adult by Yoon Eun-hye. These roles made her one of the most visible young actors in Korean television and earned her the nickname “Nation’s Little Sister.” In 2013, she took her first leading television role in The Suspicious Housekeeper, a Korean adaptation of the Japanese series Kaseifu no Mita. She then led Who Are You: School 2015, playing Lee Eun-bi and her identical twin Lee Eun-byul; the school drama paired her with Nam Joo-hyuk and Yook Sung-jae. Her leading roles subsequently included the supernatural romantic comedy Bring It On, Ghost alongside Ok Taec-yeon and the period drama Ruler: Master of the Mask, in which she played Han Ga-eun opposite Yoo Seung-ho. Kim became the female lead of Love Alarm (2019), Netflix’s first Korean original drama series. Adapted from Chon Kye-young’s webtoon, it follows a mobile application that signals when someone nearby loves its user; Kim played Kim Jo-jo opposite Song Kang and Jung Ga-ram. She reprised the role in Love Alarm 2, released in 2021. In The Tale of Nokdu (2019), she portrayed Dong Dong-ju, a trainee gisaeng whose story intersects with Jeon Nok-du, played by Jang Dong-yoon. The series brought her a Top Excellence Award for an Actress in a Miniseries at the 2019 KBS Drama Awards. In 2021, Kim stepped into River Where the Moon Rises after original lead Ji Soo was removed from the production following allegations of school violence. She played Princess Pyeonggang, and the drama reshot much of its completed footage with her. Her work earned the Grand Prize (Daesang) at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards, shared with Ji Hyun-woo. In 2023, she starred in My Lovely Liar as Mok Sol-hee, a woman who can detect lies, opposite Hwang Min-hyun as reclusive composer Kim Do-ha. In 2024, she appeared in Serendipity’s Embrace, a drama adapted from Nam Ji-eun’s webtoon about former classmates reconnecting after years as adults.
