Emma Corrin

Emma Corrin is an English actor born on 13 December 1995, in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. They attended Woldingham School in Surrey before studying drama at the University of Bristol and then reading Education, English, Drama, and the Arts at St John’s College, Cambridge. At Cambridge, Corrin acted in student productions and completed a dissertation examining how theatre can teach young people about gender and sexuality. Their screen work began with the 2017 short film Alex’s Dream, followed by a guest appearance in Grantchester as Esther Carter and the recurring role of Esme Winikus in the Epix television series Pennyworth.

Corrin first became internationally known after playing Diana, Princess of Wales, in the fourth season of Netflix’s The Crown. Set during the late 1970s and 1980s, that season dramatizes Diana’s courtship and marriage to Prince Charles, her difficulties inside the royal household, and the couple’s 1983 Australian tour. Corrin’s performance earned the 2021 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series, Drama, as well as a Critics Choice Television Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble. They also received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for that performance.

After The Crown, Corrin played Marion Taylor in My Policeman, Michael Grandage’s 2022 film adaptation of Bethan Roberts’s novel. The story moves between the 1950s and the 1990s and centers on a marriage affected by Marion’s husband Tom’s relationship with museum curator Patrick Hazlewood. In 2022, Corrin also starred as Lady Constance Chatterley in Netflix’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, adapted from D. H. Lawrence’s 1928 novel. Their Constance begins an affair with gamekeeper Oliver Mellors, played by Jack O’Connell. Corrin made their West End stage debut in 2022 as Orlando in Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s novel at the Garrick Theatre.

Corrin led the 2023 FX-on-Hulu miniseries A Murder at the End of the World as Darby Hart, an amateur sleuth and self-described “Gen Z” detective. Created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the series sends Darby to a secluded retreat organized by tech billionaire Andy Ronson, where a guest’s death becomes a murder investigation. In 2024, Corrin joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine. Cassandra is presented as a powerful telepath who rules the Void, the wasteland beyond time encountered by Wade Wilson and Logan. Corrin has said that they are nonbinary and use they/them pronouns.
