Chae Soo-bin is a South Korean actress whose career developed across stage and screen rather than through a single breakthrough. Born Bae Soo-bin on July 10, 1994, in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, she adopted the professional name Chae Soo-bin. She made her screen debut in the 2014 film My Dictator, directed by Lee Hae-jun, appearing as a young woman in the story centered on a father whose life changes after he is hired to impersonate North Korean leader Kim Il-sung. Her early work also included theatre, an experience that helped establish her as an actor comfortable with performance driven by character and dialogue.
Her first prominent television role came in the 2015 youth drama Cheer Up!, where she played Kwon Soo-ah, a wealthy and competitive student at Sevit High School. The character was initially positioned as an antagonist within the school's cheerleading club, but the series gradually exposed her loneliness and insecurity. In 2016, Chae appeared in Love in the Moonlight, a historical romance starring Park Bo-gum as Crown Prince Lee Yeong. She played Jo Ha-yeon, the prince's arranged marriage partner, bringing restrained tension to a role defined by duty, ambition and unreturned affection. The drama became a major domestic hit and significantly raised her profile.
Chae then led I'm Not a Robot (2017-2018) as Jo Ji-ah, a woman whose appearance resembles the android Aji 3. She starred opposite Yoo Seung-ho, who played Kim Min-kyu, a man with a severe human allergy. Ji-ah agrees to pretend to be the robot after the android malfunctions, creating the drama's central deception and eventual romance. In Where Stars Land (2018), she portrayed Han Yeo-reum, an Incheon International Airport employee dealing with passenger complaints and personal loss. Her character's relationship with Lee Soo-yeon, played by Lee Je-hoon, unfolds alongside the airport's demanding operations.
In 2020, she starred in A Piece of Your Mind with Jung Hae-in, playing Han Seo-woo, a classical recording engineer whose life intersects with an artificial intelligence developer grieving a past love. She later appeared in the film Sweet & Sour (2021), a modern romance featuring Jang Ki-yong and Krystal Jung, and joined Disney+ series Rookie Cops (2022) as Go Eun-gang, a determined student at the Korean National Police University. In the same year, she played the aspiring designer An Mo in Netflix's The Fabulous, set among young people working in Seoul's fashion industry. Her work remains varied across distinct roles and genres.
