Baek Mi-kyeong is a South Korean television screenwriter known for dramas that combine melodrama, satire, suspense, and unusually forceful female characters. Her 2015 JTBC series My Love Eun-dong follows a celebrated actor trying to find the woman he loved when young. Different actors portray the pair at several ages, while the story revisits a relationship disrupted by separation and family circumstances. The project established themes that would recur in her later work: romantic longing, unequal social power, and women confronting restrictive institutions. Baek’s subsequent scripts became visible through JTBC and later cable television productions, where she developed bold, premise-driven serial storytelling.

Her 2017 JTBC hit Strong Woman Do Bong-soon made that approach unmistakable. The title character, played by Park Bo-young, inherits extraordinary physical strength through the women in her family. Rather than treating that ability as a simple superhero device, the series places Bong-soon between a violent kidnapping case and her job with Ahn Min-hyuk, the eccentric chief executive of a game company, played by Park Hyung-sik. Detective In Guk-doo, played by Ji Soo, completes the central relationship triangle. The drama became a major ratings success for JTBC and was identified as the channel’s highest-rated drama at the time of broadcast.

Also in 2017, Baek wrote Woman of Dignity, a JTBC drama built around the collision between Woo Ah-jin and Park Bok-ja. Kim Hee-sun plays Ah-jin, a former flight attendant whose marriage places her inside an affluent household, while Kim Sun-ah plays Bok-ja, a caregiver who enters that household and pursues status and influence. The series turns their rivalry into a class-conscious melodrama and a murder mystery. Its finale recorded 12.065 percent nationwide viewership according to Nielsen Korea, making it JTBC’s highest-rated drama at that point. This result surpassed Strong Woman Do Bong-soon’s earlier benchmark on the channel’s ratings chart then.

Baek’s later credits include 2019’s Melting Me Softly, in which a television producer and a participant in a cryonics experiment awaken 24 years after an intended one-day freeze. Ji Chang-wook and Won Jin-ah play the two subjects, who must live with abnormally low body temperatures. In tvN’s 2021 Mine, Baek examined the secrets and conflicts of women within the Hyowon chaebol family, including characters played by Lee Bo-young and Kim Seo-hyung. Her 2023 series Strong Girl Nam-soon is set in the same world as Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. Lee Yoo-mi plays Gang Nam-soon, a Mongolia-raised young woman with superhuman strength.
