Hacks is an American comedy-drama series created by Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky, for HBO Max television. It premiered on May thirteenth, twenty twenty-one, starring Jean Smart. Smart plays Deborah Vance, a veteran Las Vegas stand-up comedian. Her career includes residencies, television merchandise, and fiercely protected self-image. Hannah Einbinder portrays Ava Daniels, a career-stranded young comedy writer. Ava loses jobs after an offensive tweet becomes public online. Her agent, Jimmy LuSaque, connects her with Deborah reluctantly thereafter. The arrangement initially serves both women's pressing professional needs uneasily.
