Ji Soo

Ji Soo is the professional name of South Korean actor Kim Ji-soo, born March 30, 1993, in Busan. He made his screen debut in the 2009 film Romantic Movement: Seoul, and later built a television profile through supporting roles. In MBC's Angry Mom (2015), he played Go Bok-dong, a student whose violent behavior and difficult home life were central to the character's arc. The performance earned him attention as a rising young actor. He then appeared in the 2015 school series Sassy Go Go, playing Seo Ha-joon, a member of the privileged Baek Ho club.

In 2016, Ji Soo took on his first leading television role in KBS2's three-episode drama special Page Turner. He portrayed Jung Cha-sik, a former piano prodigy whose hand injury ends his own plans and who becomes connected to blind pianist Yoo Seul. He also played the Fourteenth Prince Wang Jung in SBS's Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, a Goryeo-set drama adapted from the Chinese novel Bu Bu Jing Xin. In 2017, he portrayed detective In Guk-du in Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, a JTBC romantic comedy starring Park Bo-young and Park Hyung-sik. His character was the heroine's longtime friend and unrequited love interest.

Ji Soo expanded his leading work with the Netflix series My First First Love, released in 2019. As Yoon Tae-o, he was part of an ensemble of young adults sharing a house while navigating family pressures and romantic relationships. The show was released in two parts, with its second season arriving later in 2019. He next headlined MBC's When I Was the Most Beautiful (2020) as Seo Hwan, opposite Im Soo-hyang and Ha Seok-jin. The melodrama follows a ceramics teacher whose marriage to one brother complicates her relationship with the other. It ran on MBC from August to October 2020.

In March 2021, online posts accused Ji Soo of school violence and bullying during his middle-school years. He issued a public apology on Instagram on March 4, saying he had committed acts that could not be forgiven and apologizing to people hurt by him. His agency, KeyEast, announced that he would halt activities. He was subsequently replaced by Na In-woo in KBS2's River Where the Moon Rises, where Ji Soo played On Dal. The production re-filmed his completed scenes with Na In-woo for later broadcasts and international distribution. The episode sharply interrupted his rise from supporting roles to major leading parts.
