Un mazzo che si concentra sulla distruzione della mano e delle risorse dell'avversario trarrebbe vantaggio dall'inclusione di Duress. I mazzi che mirano a controllare il gioco rimuovendo le carte chiave dalla mano dell'avversario possono usare Coercizione in modo efficace per interrompere i loro piani. Sebbene esistano altre carte simili come Thoughtseize o Inquisition of Kozilek che offrono maggiore flessibilità prendendo di mira qualsiasi tipo di carta, Duress può comunque essere una preziosa inclusione nei mazzi che vogliono specificamente prendere di mira carte non creatura e non terra. Se Duress debba essere giocato dipende dalla strategia specifica e dal meta del mazzo, ma può sicuramente essere una scelta forte nel giusto contesto.
