Esta carta sería beneficiosa en un mazo que se centre en la versatilidad de las criaturas y las sinergias de contadores +1/+1, especialmente en un mazo Verde-Blanco o Verde-Negro. Aunque el Guardián del Primer Árbol ofrece flexibilidad y potencial de crecimiento, hay opciones más fuertes disponibles por costos de maná similares, como León de Crin o Elfos de Llanowar, que pueden proporcionar un impacto más inmediato o una mejor utilidad en ciertas estrategias.
