Wicked Pact, Sorcery, designed by Adam Rex first released in May, 1997 in the set Portal and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
A deck that focuses on controlling the board by removing key threats would benefit from including Wicked Pact, especially in a black-heavy deck that can easily pay the mana cost. However, there are better options like Damnation or Toxic Deluge that offer more flexibility and less life loss, making them more efficient choices in most situations. While Wicked Pact has its niche uses, it may not see much play in competitive decks due to its drawbacks compared to other similar cards.
