This card, Virulent Wound, would benefit a deck focused on controlling the board by weakening and eliminating opponent's creatures while also applying pressure with poison counters. However, there are more efficient options like Fatal Push or Dismember that offer better removal at a similar cost, making Virulent Wound less likely to see play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.
