Soldevi Machinist, Creature — human wizard artificer, designed by Jeff A. Menges first released in Jun, 1995 in the set Ice Age and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
A deck that heavily relies on artifacts and their activated abilities, such as artifact combo decks or artifact-heavy control decks, would benefit from including Soldevi Machinist. While it may not be a top-tier card, it can be useful in certain strategies. However, there are better options available, such as Grand Architect or Chief Engineer, which provide more versatile mana abilities for artifact-centric decks. Soldevi Machinist may not see widespread play in competitive formats but could find a home in more casual artifact-focused decks.

Mana from the ability can only be spent on activation costs for abilities from artifacts. It can’t be spent on artifact spells, or on costs resulting from triggered abilities.
