This card, Protective Sphere, would benefit a control deck that relies on managing and preventing damage. While it can be useful in certain situations, there are potentially better options available such as Forcefield which provides a similar effect without the life payment cost. However, Protective Sphere could still see play in specific decks that require color-specific protection or additional damage prevention options.
