About Necropede

Necropede, Artifact creature — phyrexian insect, designed by Nic Klein first released in Oct, 2010 in the set Scars of Mirrodin.

A deck focused on utilizing -1/-1 counters and poison counters, such as a Infect or Proliferate deck, would benefit from including Necropede. While Necropede is a solid card for its cost and ability to spread -1/-1 counters, there are stronger options like Plague Stinger or Glistener Elf that can provide more immediate threat and synergy in these decks. Necropede can still see play in certain builds for its unique abilities, but it may not be a top-tier choice compared to other options available.

Rules

01/01/11

A player who has ten or more poison counters loses the game. This is a state-based action.

01/01/11

If damage from a source with infect that would be dealt to a player is prevented, that player doesn’t get poison counters. If damage from a source with infect that would be dealt to a creature is prevented, that creature doesn’t get -1/-1 counters.

01/01/11

The -1/-1 counters remain on the creature indefinitely. They’re not removed if the creature regenerates or the turn ends.
