About Molten Rain

Molten Rain, Sorcery, designed by Hugh Jamieson first released in Oct, 2003 in the set Mirrodin and was printed exactly in 4 different ways.

This card, Molten Rain, would be beneficial in a red aggressive deck looking to disrupt the opponent's mana base and apply pressure simultaneously. It can be particularly effective against decks that rely heavily on nonbasic lands for their mana fixing, such as control decks or decks with powerful utility lands. However, in certain metagames or matchups, other cards like Stone Rain or Blood Moon may be more effective at achieving similar goals. Molten Rain could see play as a sideboard option in specific matchups where land destruction is valuable, but its main deck inclusion would depend on the overall strategy and the current metagame trends.

Rules

03/19/21

If the target land is an illegal target by the time Molten Rain tries to resolve, the spell doesn’t resolve. No player is dealt 2 damage. If the target is legal but not destroyed (most likely because it has indestructible), its controller is dealt 2 damage.
