About Leech Bonder

Leech Bonder, Creature — merfolk soldier, designed by E. M. Gist first released in May, 2020 in the set Shadowmoor. It's a key card in 4 combos.

A deck focused on +1/+1 counters, such as a Simic or Bant deck, could benefit from using Leech Bonder to transfer -1/-1 counters from opponents' creatures onto their own, effectively weakening enemy threats while strengthening their own. However, in terms of efficiency and versatility, cards like Zameck Guildmage or Gyre Sage might be better options as they provide more consistent value in +1/+1 counter strategies. Leech Bonder could see situational play in specific metas where -1/-1 counters are prevalent, but overall, it may not be a top choice for competitive decks.

Rules

05/01/08

If the permanent is already untapped, you can’t activate its ability. That’s because you can’t pay the “Untap this permanent” cost.

05/01/08

This effect may result in a useless counter being placed on a creature. For example, if an age counter is moved from a creature with cumulative upkeep to a creature without cumulative upkeep, it will have no effect on the new creature.

05/01/08

When you activate an ability, you untap the creature with that ability as a cost. The untap can’t be responded to. (The actual ability can be responded to, of course.)
