About Lavinia of the Tenth

Lavinia of the Tenth, Legendary creature — human soldier, designed by Willian Murai first released in May, 2013 in the set Dragon's Maze and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

This card, Lavinia of the Tenth, would be beneficial in a control deck that aims to slow down opponents by detaining their smaller permanents and protecting itself from red spells. While it can be a strong addition to a control strategy, there are other cards like Teferi, Time Raveler or Teferi, Hero of Dominaria that offer more versatile and powerful effects in a control deck. However, Lavinia of the Tenth could still see play in certain metagames or decks that specifically need its unique abilities.

Rules

04/15/13

Activated abilities include a colon and are written in the form “[cost]: [effect].” No one can activate any activated abilities, including mana abilities, of a detained permanent.

04/15/13

If a creature is already attacking or blocking when it’s detained, it won’t be removed from combat. It will continue to attack or block.

04/15/13

If a noncreature permanent is detained and later turns into a creature, it won’t be able to attack or block.

04/15/13

The converted mana cost of a creature token is 0 unless that token is a copy of another creature, in which case it copies that creature’s mana cost.
