About Ice Floe

Ice Floe, Land, designed by Jeff A. Menges first released in Jun, 1995 in the set Ice Age and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Ice Floe could be beneficial in a control deck that aims to stall aggressive creature-based strategies by tapping down key threats. However, there are more efficient options like Maze of Ith or Glacial Chasm that provide similar effects without the drawback of not untapping during your untap step. Ice Floe may not see much play in competitive decks due to its limitations compared to other available options.

Rules

10/01/08

Ice Floe doesn’t track the creature’s controller. If the affected creature changes controllers, Ice Floe will prevent it from being untapped during its new controller’s untap step.

10/01/08

If the ability resolves, then the creature gains flying later, Ice Floe’s effect will not end. (The ability checks whether the creature has flying only at the time you activate it and the time it resolves.)

10/01/08

You may target a tapped creature with Ice Floe’s activated ability.
