Frightful Delusion, Instant, designed by Anthony Palumbo first released in May, 2020 in the set Innistrad.
Frightful Delusion would be beneficial in a control deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's hand and counter their spells. While it offers a versatile effect by forcing the opponent to pay extra mana or discard a card, there are more efficient options like Mana Leak or Remand that provide better value for the same cost. Frightful Delusion could see situational play in certain metagames, but it may not be a staple card in competitive decks.

You must target a spell in order to cast Frightful Delusion. You can’t cast it without a legal target just to make a player discard a card.
