This card would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on sacrificing lands or self-milling strategies, as it provides mana acceleration and a token creature upon being put into the graveyard. While Dunes of the Dead has its niche uses, there are potentially better options like Field of the Dead which can generate multiple zombie tokens and have a more significant impact on the game. Whether Dunes of the Dead sees play would largely depend on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck it's included in.

Desert is a land subtype with no special meaning. It doesn’t grant the land an intrinsic mana ability. Other cards may care about which lands are Deserts.
