About Diplomacy of the Wastes

Diplomacy of the Wastes, Sorcery, designed by Jack Wang first released in Jan, 2015 in the set Fate Reforged.

This card would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on disruption and hand control, such as a Black control or discard deck. While Diplomacy of the Wastes offers a decent effect by making the opponent discard a card and potentially lose life if you control a Warrior, there are more efficient and powerful options available, such as Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek, which provide similar effects at a lower mana cost and without the conditional requirement of controlling a specific creature type. Overall, Diplomacy of the Wastes may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its higher cost and less impactful effect compared to other options available.

Rules

11/24/14

If you control a Warrior as Diplomacy of the Wastes resolves, the target opponent will lose 2 life even if that player didn’t discard a card (perhaps because they had no cards in hand).
