About Choking Tethers

Choking Tethers, Instant, designed by Carl Critchlow first released in Oct, 2002 in the set Onslaught and was printed exactly in 7 different ways.

Choking Tethers could be beneficial in a control deck looking to tap down multiple creatures to stall the opponent's board development. While it offers versatility with its cycling ability to tap an additional creature, the high mana cost and limited impact may make it less desirable compared to other control cards like Cryptic Command or Aetherize, which offer more versatile options or broader effects. Choking Tethers may see situational play in specific metagames or strategies, but it may not be a staple card in most competitive decks.

Rules

10/01/08

Cycling is an activated ability. Effects that interact with activated abilities (such as Stifle or Rings of Brighthearth) will interact with cycling. Effects that interact with spells (such as Remove Soul or Faerie Tauntings) will not.

10/01/08

The cycling ability and the triggered ability are separate. If the triggered ability doesn’t resolve (due to being countered with Stifle, for example, or if all its targets have become illegal), the cycling ability will still resolve and you’ll draw a card.
