This Cabal Torturer card would be beneficial in a black control or graveyard-based deck that aims to disrupt opponent's creatures and fill up its own graveyard quickly to enable the Threshold ability. However, there are more efficient removal options available in Magic: the Gathering, such as Fatal Push or Dismember, which could be considered better choices for removal spells. Cabal Torturer may not see much play in competitive decks due to its higher mana cost and conditional activation requirements compared to other removal options.
