About Biomass Mutation

Biomass Mutation, Instant, designed by Dan Murayama Scott first released in Feb, 2013 in the set Gatecrash and was printed exactly in 9 different ways.

A deck focused on creature-heavy strategies, such as a Simic aggro or midrange deck, would benefit from Biomass Mutation as it can provide a significant power boost to all creatures on the board. However, a potential better card for a similar effect could be Overrun, which gives creatures +3/+3 and trample until end of turn for a fixed cost of 2GG. Biomass Mutation could see play in decks looking for a more flexible and scalable power boost option, especially in situations where X can be a high value.

Rules

01/24/13

Choosing 0 as the value for X will likely cause creatures you control to become 0/0 and be put into the graveyard.
