Ashnod's Transmogrant, Artifact, designed by Mark Tedin first released in May, 2020 in the set Antiquities and was printed exactly in 6 different ways. It's a key card in 2 combos.
Ashnod's Transmogrant is particularly beneficial in decks that focus on +1/+1 counters and synergies with both creatures and artifacts, such as those built around the Modular mechanic or the Artifact Creature theme. It can also work well in decks that utilize cards that benefit from having more artifacts on the battlefield, like those featuring Tezzeret or Sai, Master Thopterist. While there are other cards that can provide similar effects, such as Hardened Scales for counter synergies or Myr Retriever for artifact recursion, Ashnod's Transmogrant offers unique versatility by turning creatures into artifacts, making it a valuable addition in the right context. Overall, it should see play in specific builds that can maximize its potential.

It’s the ability, not the counter that makes the creature an artifact. The creature remains an artifact even if the +1/+1 counter is removed.
