About Fleetfeather Cockatrice

Fleetfeather Cockatrice, Creature — cockatrice, designed by Matt Stewart first released in May, 2020 in the set Journey into Nyx.

A deck that focuses on tempo and control would benefit from including Fleetfeather Cockatrice, as its Flash ability allows for surprise blocks or attacks, while its Flying and Deathtouch abilities provide evasion and removal potential. The Monstrosity ability can also serve as a late-game mana sink to create a threatening threat. However, there may be better options for similar effects in certain decks, such as Mist-cloaked Herald for evasion or Ravenous Chupacabra for removal, depending on the specific strategy and synergy of the deck. Overall, Fleetfeather Cockatrice could see play in certain decks that value its unique combination of abilities and flexibility.

Rules

04/26/14

An ability that triggers when a creature becomes monstrous won’t trigger if that creature isn’t on the battlefield when its monstrosity ability resolves.

04/26/14

Once a creature becomes monstrous, it can’t become monstrous again. If the creature is already monstrous when the monstrosity ability resolves, nothing happens.
