Tavern Swindler could be useful in a deck that focuses on life gain strategies or has ways to mitigate the life loss, such as with lifelink creatures or cards that allow you to gain life easily. However, there are generally better options for life gain in Magic: The Gathering, such as cards like Vampire Nighthawk or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, which provide consistent life gain without the randomness of a coin flip. Tavern Swindler could be a fun and unpredictable addition to a casual deck, but may not be competitive enough for more serious play.
